What is a solar tour?
Soylar Candles is run on a 3.3 kilowatt solar power system. Our system runs enough electricity for our home and business. We feel so good about our investment in clean energy that we want to share our experience with others. This is our way of helping our community to go green, and to help stop the affects of global warming for our children and for our future generations. We feel a strong sense of responsibility as parents to leave a clean and healthy planet for them when we are gone. It is our responsibility to teach them to live sustainably and to respect our natural resources.
At our solar tours, we go beyond solar. We educate the public about ways they can live sustainably and help the environment. Many of the tips we talk about are on our "Fifty-Somethings" page. We talk about composting, reducing the amount of litter by precycling, going "all" electric after going solar, and driving with solar powered cars and scooters. A simple solution anyone can do right now is bring your own bags to the grocery store, and refuse paper and plastic. We hope that our web pages are helpful, and if you've learned something new here, please let us know via our "contact us" page. We'd love to hear your comments.

We are scheduled to host our home for the next ASES National Solar Tour in October 4, 2008.
If anyone is interested in attending one of the solar energy tours October 4th, here is the ASES website. This is a national event, and our home will be on the tour in Long Beach, CA. We are listed in the Seal Beach tour of homes shown below. To see tours in other cities and states, go to ases.org, or copy and paste this link. Hope to see you there!
Seal Beach Solar Tour
•Date: Oct. 4, 2008 10:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.
•Tour City or Community: Seal Beach, Long Beach, Huntington Beach
•Tour Presented by: Energy Efficiency Solar
Tour Description: Visit a small number of solar homes in the Seal Beach area, possibly including Northern O.C. and Long Beach. More homes will be listed on the website "Virtual Tour" which you can take at any time. There will be battery-backup and grid-tie representative systems, and plug-in Toyota RAV4-EV drivers who power their daily drive with night-time charging paid for by daytime solar electric production.
