We’ve found our bead supplier at last! We were so happy to find Happy Mango Beads, a fair trade company that personally imports all of their beads and interacts with people of many different cultures, in relatively poor countries. They have been involved in bettering the living conditions and lifestyles of many families in developing countries. They pay a fair price for the beads, and purchase from many different coops, vendors and craftspeople, providing a market which allows them to house, feed and clothe their families, something they may not have otherwise been able to do. Happy Mango Beads has helped children and adults to attend school, and they never travel without 100-150 pounds of clothing, shoes, backpacks and school supplies. You can read their stories and purchase their beads at www.happymangobeads.com. The beads we use for our jar candles are made from recycled glass from Java, Indonesia. The "Boca de Negro" seeds are from the rainforests of Equador and the sea shells are from the Phillipines. The sea shell beads are all sustainably harvested under US and International law and CITES International Agreement (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora). We personally hand tie all of the beads to make the candle decorations. When your candle is finished you'll have a nice bracelet to wear, or use as a fancy bookmark, a picture hanger, a hair accessory or even a key chain. Rudi at Happy Mango Beads is going to see if he can find soybean beads for our candles.
