About our Candles

Soylar Candles offers a full line of quality soy candles, made with eco friendly soy wax. We have something for everyone, including tealights, tarts, votives, baby food jars, mason jars and 100% recycled glass containers. Irene Guoz also turns intact Martinelli Apple Cider bottles into beautiful green, rustic looking glass candle holders that can be reused long after the candle is gone. She is even making Drop-In Refills so you can keep refilling your containers. Now how's that for being eco-friendly? Reusing and Reducing is our goal and the key to saving our planet from endless landfill.

Soylar Candles are made with the best possible ingredients, beginning with our pure soy wax. It is both food grade and certified kosher. It does not contain any blends, additives or candle enhancers. Our candles are made dye-free, and we also offer eco-friendly vegetable-based colors upon request. Our wicks are made of braided cotton with thin paper strands intertwined throughout the braid. Most of our wicks are self trimming and require very little maintenance and don't create big carbon balls the way pure cotton wicks do. The thin paper strands also help soy wax burn a little better because the paper allows for a hotter burn. These wicks are called HTP's or High Temperature Cotton Paper Wicks. All wicks are primed in soy wax and do not contain lead or metal cores. Our candles are measured in liquid ounces, not by weight.

Our natural line of soy candles are made only with pure therapeutic grade aromatherapy essential oils. They do not contain any fragrance oil compounds, solvents or preservatives. All of our essential oils are steam-distilled or cold-pressed from the first distillations and most are certified organic. We have found these to be the highest grade of aromatherapeutic essential oils. We never use absolutes or CO2 essential oils, because we believe in purity and quality for our natural candles. We believe that if we offer a 100% natural candle, all ingredients should be 100% natural for our purity standards and truth in labeling.

We understand that many people enjoy the aromas that come from synthetic (man-made) fragrance oils. They remind us of days past, or fond memories of grandma's cozy kitchen. We carry a full line of premium quality fragrance oils, and many of them are soy-based. All of our fragrance oils are considered safe and pass the California Proposition 65 list. Soy Candles made with fragrance oils may create more soot than those made with essential oils or unscented. They are also not considered 100% natural, because fragrance oils are made with chemical fragrance compounds not found in nature. We let our customers have many options when it comes to their custom made candles.

We take seriously our commitment to the environment, and that's why we only use 100% recycled glass containers and Reused containers that make great candle jars. Each and every jar is inspected for safety and we find our jars to be of thicker quality glass than most candle glass containers. Our candles are hand-poured in a solar home, which compliments the natural integrity of our products. We also purchase our materials and ingredients from companies that practice fair trade and benefit the lives of others.
