"Rescued" Baby Food Jar Candles

Read all about our eco-friendly dyes on our page called, "Decorating our Candles." Don’t forget to select your choice of lightly scented, regular medium scented, highly scented, wickless, colored or dye free. If you would like us to color them, please describe the color you want, or let us color according to the fragrance name.

Regarding the 2.5 ounce, let us know whether you want the votive size or regular size. LIDS are painted black. We no longer offer lid choices. Black is easier to paint and only needs one coat which means we are able to conserve paint. Our paints do not contain any hazardous materials such as lead or heavy metals. They are water-based, certified non-toxic and comply with the protocol of ASTM D-4236, a federal regulatory standard. Our paints are made in the USA and bear the symbols AP, ACMI and ASTM. They are even safe for children to use.

Candles are made dye-free, unless you want us to color them for you with our eco-friendly dyes. Designs vary with in-stock beads. ( Wood & Sea Shells, stones, semi precious & glass beads. They are tied together with hemp twine and/or Nettle twine.)

Our cotton/paper eco wicks are dipped in soy wax. They are all natural cotton with thin paper strands weaved into the braid for a wick that stays up straight and burns hot throughout the whole candle. We’ve tried regular cotton and they kept getting huge carbon balls (mushrooming). Our wicks are self-trimming and will curve at the tip which limits mushrooming. In this case, be sure to center the flame.

* Note: There will be about 1/2 ounce of wax left in the bottom of the container. This is due to the shape of the containers’ interior and the neck height of the wick tab. And for safety sake, stop using when your candle has less than 1/2” of wax remaining. You could use the remaining wax on your candle warmer.

Burn times are averages and not guaranteed. They are based according to our testing here at home. We have burned many many candles in a typical home environment, not in a box. We do not refrigerate our candles, as this is not typical. We test in our kitchen window or fireplace mantel, and there is a slight draft from the A/C & Heating unit throughout the day. If you light your candle and leave it burning for a whole day, your candle will burn out much much faster. Test burns for 2.5oz, 4oz. & 6 oz., were done in 4 hour increments. Two four hour increments will burn longer than one 8 hour burn. So if you want your candle to last longer, only burn for 2 hours at a time. If you put out the candle every few hours, when the wax pool reaches the edges, wait for the wax to harden, then relight your candle, it should burn close to the higher burn time, or more. The other thing to remember in regards to burn time, every fragrance burns differently as some oils are heavier than others, and adding color can also affect the burn time. Adding too much color can also clog your wick. Why does the votive size burn longer than the standard 2.5 ounce? That’s because it is smaller in diameter and slightly taller. It is also able to use a small tealight wick, which doesn't generate much heat. Baby Jar Candles have tested an average of 6-8 hours per ounce. This is a great size to sample fragrances.

There is a limited stock on sizes 2.5 oz, 4.5oz., & 5.5oz. The 4oz. Jars are the most commonly used. Babies moving onto larger jars usually start eating regular food thereafter, so even 6 ounce jars can be harder to come by. We have plenty of 4 oz. jars and to make sure we never run out, we offer a 10% discount on refills.
