Soylar Candles is proud to be a partner of Goods 4 Girls. We do not sell pads for retail at this time. We only make them for the girls in different parts of Africa who do not have access to feminine products. In places like Kenya and Sudan, girls of menstruating age miss school during their periods. Waste disposal is another problem. Some feminine hygiene companies think they are doing a bit of good by donating disposable supplies. They do not realize the problem disposables create in a non-disposable society. People regularly burn their trash, and by burning disposable pads they are breathing toxic chemicals that come from dioxins in the bleached cotton, and petro-chemicals in the plastic liners.

By providing reusable cloth pads we are helping these girls go back to school and to live sustainably during those times of the month. Normally these girls use old rags and newspapers. Goods 4 Girls finds schools in need of supplies and donates the pads where they find the most need. Each girl is given a kit of 5 pads and a carry bag. Each pad should last her five years, long enough to finish high school.

Product Information

Donations of $3.00 covers the cost of one pad, and when we have enough for a kit (5) we send them out to www.goods4girls.org. Each pad has an attached card with your name, city, state and country. The price includes fabrics, snaps, cards, labor, shipping supplies and postage.

This product is made for charity at a discounted rate, and will not be shipped to the customer. We will never know if someone is purchasing them for themselves at a discount, and that's why we ship them directly to www.goods4girls.org. If you would like to make your own pads for Goods 4 Girls, click on the picture at the top of the page and you will be linked to Goods 4 Girls, where you'll find out more information, links to patterns and where to send them.

Fabric Donations

We are accepting donations of new or lightly used flannel, terry cloth and PUL (water-proof layer) for this project.
